Dear Barb and Bob, I received my G3/450-466 'performance bundle' upgrade kit today!! It was a snap to install. The CPU just popped in and the jumpers were a piece of cake to install with a pair of tweezers from my wife. It seems that the ROM you sent me was the same as mine.

I fired it up and the System Profiler now reads G3 at 468 Mhz. I'm flyin' now!!!

I want to thank the both of you for your fine assistance and for returning all my questions answered for me before I bought. For all you knew, I could have been a competitor. I am not. I just wanted to comment on the excellent service provided by your company. I recently inquired via e-mail whether you would take purchase orders. Your staff called and asked if we would like to reserve three G3 upgrades because they have been in short supply. We were delighted and asked our purchasing department to FAX our P.O. to you. We then received another call telling us they would be shipped immediately and that I would receive the shipper tracking number via e-mail.

They arrived at our warehouse today and I am looking forward to installation next week. It was fun checking the progress of the shipment on the internet.

Anyway, us MAC users must stick together in a Windows world. I am very happy with your service and will not hesitate to recommend MacCPU to others. Lois M


Hi Bob. I just wanted to say thanks to you and your team for giving me assistance with the purchase of the Newer tech CPU upgrade for my lil' 7300.

Being the pain in the ass that I am, I repeatedly emailed info requests to your company, and within the hour got an answer!

The card performs flawlessly running the very hungry Pro Tools LE and, with it's new lease on life, gives my 9600 Pro Tools TDM unit at work a run for its money.

Barb, Thanks for the quick response on my order last week. The install in our aging 7100/66 took about ten minutes, and I would have to say the upgrade improved the speed of the machine much more than I expected!

My goal was to spend about $500 to get the machine up to par with an iMac, and between upgrading the CPU, memory and modem, I believe I've accomplished that. Thanks again, es


Hi Barb / Bob: Picked-up my Newer card at FedEx Thursday nite. Love it!!!!!!!!!

I opened some files I'm re-mastering and VOILA!........instead of my old 603 processor running at or should I say choking at 85% with some heavy duty plug-ins applied, the new G3 was cruising along at a mere 20% of processor load!! How sweet it is!!! I won't have to keep 'burning to disk' to free-up processor capacity to add additional processing plug-ins!!

Thanks a bunch for your help and 'guidance' through this!! I really appreciate it! It's great being able to do business with such nice folks!! Jerry K


Barb: just wanted to quickly thank you for the excellent service on my order. i got the ZIF the next day, installed it following the instructions. the only hitch was that i did not read Robert's instructions closely enough to understand that the motherboard jumpers were a single block. as soon as i realized that, removed the block and installed the new jumpers, it was a breeze. and everything works fine. thanks again. gene

Hi Bob, Same old news for you I guess. I put the MAXpowr 240 caddyless card in (8100/110), and machine screams! Period.
Using Deck ll, for example, I would get 10-12 audio tracks with 1or 2 realtime effect on a good day with my PM 8100/110.
First test 24 tracks, success. Second test, add effects.
I gave up after 30 realtime effects running. I concede, I've got unlimited performance with this application.

Picked-up my Newer card at FedEx Thursday nite. Love it!!!!!!!!!

Everything fired-up as if I had just bought a new machine except for the MOTU audio stuff I use. Everything else worked perfectly!!!

Furthur assessment of the situation proved I had communication between the PCI-324 card and the 2408 A/D - D/A box. (All the right lights were flashing!) It appeared as if it was a 'software' issue!! Well, I got home last night after a Halloween party.....trashed my last installation of MOTU AudioDesk and Waves NPP plug-ins and re-loaded both.

I was able to lay down a couple of guitar tracks... apply some fx... Mix-em... save it... re-open it... Hey... I was back in business!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Barb, I just hate writing bad emails... so that's why I'm so happy to write you guys! The NewerTech 300/200 upgrade for my PM 6500/250 did the trick. I haven't crashed yet! After it passed my 12 hour stability test (IE 4.5 and SETI@Home), I proceeded to put my 3rd party software back in... still no crashes! It's fantastic! I can tell that it's slower than the Sonnet 400Mhz, but the stability is great!
It would be just wrong not for me to have at least one gripe... you guys are terrible! I had such a great experience dealing with you... now the unfortunate truth - you don't sell anything else that I can buy. I need to buy another new Mac and then have to upgrade it before I get another chance to deal with you.

My wife received the upgrade about 11:15 CDT. I rushed home for lunch and fifteen minutes later I was up and running. I did run into some minor problems with the cache control panel but once I read the manual and set it up correctly she work like a champ. My wife said I was just being a typical male by getting all excited and reading only the first couple of lines of the instruction and guessing at the rest. Thanks again for both Bob's and your help.
